Apart from the Chandigarh Police, every citizen is also responsible for their own and their family’s safety and security. Also, this verification is mandatory as per the orders issued under Section 144 of the CrPC Any violation of these orders i.e., non-registration of servants/helpers/tenants/paying guests, etc. with the area Station House Officer (SHO) is a punishable offence under Section 188 of the IPC, for which an FIR is registered against the landlord/employer.
