RULES-GUIDELINES FOR FOREIGNERS VISITING/STAYING IN CHANDIGARH (AS PER VISA RULES) |
REGISTRATION OFFICER: In supersession of Chandigarh Administration, Home Department Notification dated 16th January, 1967 and in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 3 of the Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992, read with Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Notification dated 7th December,1966, the Administrator, Union territory, Chandigarh has appointed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Union Territory, Chandigarh as the Registration Officer for the purpose of the aforesaid rules for the Union Territory of Chandigarh. LOCATION OF FRO CHANDIGARH: The Foreigner's Registration Office (UT) Chandigarh is located at 1st floor (Room No.110) Police Headquarters, (Additional Deluxe Building) Sector-9/D Chandigarh. This office is functioning under the supervision of SSP /UT Chandigarh. However, the powers to perform all the functions of FRO, on his behalf (except visa extensions), have been delegated by him to DSP/CID UT Chandigarh. Contact Telephone Nos. : 0172-2760869, 2760870 FREIGNERS SERVICES: FRO/UT Chandigarh is fully computerized, brought under the Centralized FRO Module - (IVFRT Project) by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigners Division) New Delhi. Therefore, the foreigners staying in Chandigarh, may apply for Registration, Visa Extension, Return Visa and Exit Permit to FRO Chandigarh on website http://indianfrro.gov.in/frro/ LIABILITIES OF HOTEL-KEEPERS: Under rules- "Hotel" includes any Boarding-House, Club, Dak Bungalow, Rest House, Paying Guest-House, Sarai or other premises of like nature. LIABILITIES OF HOUSE-HOLDERS/OTHERS: Section 2 of the Foreigners (Report to Police) Order, 1971, enjoins upon every house-holder or other person to report to the Officer-In-Charge of the nearest police station about the arrival or presence of any foreigner in his/her household or any premises occupied by him/her or under his/her control, if he/she knows or has reason to believe that he/she is a foreigner.
